|Kamellia Lebanon Tour Report |

The Lebanon tour was very pleasant.

We went to the museum of Khalil Gibran (The famous poet born in Lebanon who emigrated to the U.S.) on the 1st day.
The people which came to the workshop were carrying out sightseeing to the afternoon after that every day.
But I went only to Bublos (the oldest city in the world. It was about 20 minutes by our hotel to the car). Because I had classes for the Lebanease.

Lebanon is a small country, and if there is a transportation (We used the minibus), you can go anywhere.
I am also going to do sightseeing next time .
A dinner show is performed at restaurants every night. We all danced and enjoyed there.

My purposes were a workshop and meeting artists. I was able to meet all the members' which wanted to meet.

Maya Yazbic (The singer of ˘Habibi Ya EyniŁ), Bassem Yazbic (Maya's brother. Well known percussionist in Lebanon. He had married Amani before.), Mazen Zawaedi (Maya's husband. The chief orchestra of George Wassouf which is a famous singer. And composer. He compose Amani's music, too.).
Bassem came to the workshop and improvised the tabla.
They are all the friends to whom I was doing show together about 20 years ago at the cabaret in Paris.

One more person, he is very important for me.
Jihad AKL. He is a talented violinist.
I worked together 15 years ago with him in the Republic of Ivory Coast country. Although he was still 20 years old those days, he was a very wonderful musician from the time.
He held the small free concert for us, and gave everybody his CD.

And, I went the atelier of Joseph Matar who is a wonderful painter, too.

Now, famous dancers in Lebanon are Samara and Amani.
We looked at Samara's show, but everyone feel it wasn't so good. There was no show of Amani's.
Things required for the dancers of Lebanon are youth, beauty, and a wonderful body \\it seems that a dance is not so important.

My Violin
What Softness of a woman lies in you
And what valor of a man
Are you an instrument of wood and wire made
Or a dialogue of hearts and unity of souls
With you, my violin
My friend and bearer of dreams
We will win the quest
Of bridging east and west
Through music

-From Khalil Gibran's Writing-

@"The Dancer"

Once there came to the court of the Prince of Birkasha a dancer and her musicians. And she was admitted to the court. And she danced to the music of the flute, the lute, and the zither.

She danced the dance of flames and fire, and the dance of swords and spears; she danced the dance of stars and the dance of space, and then she danced the dance of flowers in the wind.

When she had finished, she approached the prince and bowed her body before him. The price bade her to come nearer, and said unto her, "Beautiful woman, daughter of grace and delight, whence comes your art? And how is it that you command all the elements in your rythyms and your rhymes?"

And the dancer came near and bowed her body again and said, "Gracious majesty, I know not the answer to your qustionings. Only this I know: The philosopher sould dwells within his head, the poets sould dwells within his heart, the singers soul dwells about his throat, but the soul of the dancer abides in all her body.
